Burglars stole gold and silver ornaments, and cash worth millions of rupees after breaking into several jewellery shops in the Sarafa Bazaar area of Shah Faisal Colony on Sunday.
Police said the incident took place on Saturday morning at jewellery shops located on the main road in Shah Faisal Colony No 1. The suspects reportedly remained inside the market for nearly half an hour, searching the shops before escaping with valuables.
Police said the suspects broke the locks of three shops. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, showing the suspects arriving at around 5:30am and continuing their operation for around half an hour. One of the suspects was seen wearing a helmet while repeatedly entering and exiting one of the shops during the theft.
According to the owner of one of the affected jewellery shops, the suspects looted gold ornaments and silver worth approximately Rs900,000 from his store. The burglars also broke into two additional shops during the incident. The shop owners reported the incident to police; however, a formal case has yet to be registered.
