PESHAWAR: The Appellate Committee of the Pakistan Bar Council has suspended the April 30 order issued by the chairman of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council regarding bar elections and formally admitted for hearing the appeal filed by the council’s vice chairman.

In a significant development in the ongoing dispute over lawyers’ elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Pakistan Bar Council also issued notices to all relevant parties on the application moved by the vice chairman of the KP Bar Council.

It is pertinent to mention that the vice chairman had postponed the May 6 district and tehsil bar elections due to a pending case in the Peshawar High Court concerning lawyers allegedly deprived of their right to vote.
