ISLAMABAD: Iranian Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam has declared Pakistan his country’s priority partner in the region and praised its support and diplomatic role during the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran.

He also said Iran would never allow its territory to be used against Pakistan.

“Despite maintaining relations with other countries, including India, Iran’s relationship with Pakistan remains a priority and continues to grow stronger,” the envoy told a roundtable discussion hosted by the Centre for International Strategic Studies (CISS) here on the future trajectory of Pakistan-Iran relations and the broader geopolitical environment amid the US-Israel conflict.

He extended “sincere gratitude to Pakistan for its steadfast support during difficult times” and mediating the talks between Washington and Tehran, highlighting the strong brotherly ties between the two nations.

The ambassador said Iran had consistently pursued friendly relations with all neighbouring countries.

He said that the recent war could significantly reshape the regional order, leading to a decline in US influence, the growing isolation of Israel, and the potential emergence of a new geopolitical alignment involving Israel, India, the UAE and Somaliland

The envoy, however, said Pakistan-Iran relations had strengthened considerably, raising prospects for a new regional alliance comprising Iran, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan once the war ended.
