The continuous rise in gas and electricity bills has become unbearable for the people, particularly for poor and middle-class families already struggling with inflation and unemployment. Despite prolonged loadshedding and poor services, consumers are being forced to pay excessively high utility bills every month. Many households now find it difficult to manage even their basic needs as a major portion of their income is spent on utility charges. Small businesses and daily wage earners are also badly affected by the increasing cost of electricity and gas, which is worsening their financial condition.
At a time when people expect relief, the growing burden of utility expenses is adding to public frustration and hardship. The authorities concerned must take immediate steps to control overbilling, reduce unnecessary taxes and ensure affordable utility services for citizens.
