The Sindh government has transferred the controlling authority for the chairmen of educational boards in the province to the chief minister, while the authority over controllers of examinations, secretaries, audit officers and other officials will continue to remain with the minister for universities and boards.
Following the change in the controlling authority, the resignations of Ghulam Hussain Soho, chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi, and Shuja Ahmed Mehar, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad, have now been forwarded to the chief minister for approval.
Sources said the change in the controlling authority was approved during a recent meeting of the provincial cabinet. According to sources, the chief minister will review in detail the reasons behind the resignations of both board chairmen before deciding whether to accept or reject them.
