ALPURI: Residents of the remote Shuwar area in the Pooran tehsil of Shangla staged a strong protest against the outsourcing of a government primary school, joining parents, elders, members of the Parents Teachers Council (PTC), and students in rejecting the decision.

The protesters gathered outside the school and raised slogans against the Education Department, demanding immediate withdrawal of the decision.Addressing the protest, local leaders, including Qari Sahibzada, Faridullah, PTC Chairman Khan Sultan, Ameer Alam, and Muhammad Gul said that internal disputes and personal rivalries among teachers had severely damaged the academic environment of the school. They claimed that student enrollment had dropped from around 130 to just 15-20 due to the deteriorating situation.

They alleged that instead of taking action against those responsible and improving conditions, the Education Department opted for outsourcing, calling it an unfair decision. The speakers said Shuwar is a highly underdeveloped area where most residents work in coal mines to support their families, and the government school is the only source of education for their children. They warned that outsourcing could further affect education and increase dropout rates among poor students.

The protesters demanded that the school be immediately taken out of the outsourcing plan and a transparent and impartial inquiry be conducted against the teachers and the head teacher to determine responsibility and ensure legal action.
