Minister orders strict enforcement of safety SOPs

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Health and Emergency Services Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed that fire safety SOPs should be fully implemented in commercial buildings and strict action will be taken against the violation of SOPs as per the law. 

Other preparations including navigation system are also being completed.

He issued these directions while addressing a ceremony organised at the Rescue Headquarters on the occasion of International Firefighters Day 2026 on Monday.

Parliamentary Secretary Syed Ziaullah Shah, Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer and a large number of rescue officers and personnel were present on this occasion. Khawaja Salman Rafique said that rescuers have so far saved the losses worth Rs786 billion while performing their services. 

It is the blood of these rescuers that this institution has gained recognition all over the world. The number of ambulances for emergency services has also been increased. The credit for saving the lives of hundreds of patients through the air ambulance service so far goes to the rescuers.

Parliamentary Secretary Ziaullah Shah said that rescuers protect the lives and property of the people. Fire and rescue operations are not the work of a single individual but a team effort. Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer said that the responsibilities of firefighters are very tough. 

Firefighting should be regularly arranged in high-rise buildings built by spending billions of rupees.
