QUETTA: Three people drowned while bathing in the Hub River on Sunday.
According to rescue sources, the victims drowned during swimming. Their bodies were later retrieved from the water and shifted to a hospital.
All the three deceased belonged to Karachi’s Orangi Town area. However, their identities could not be confirmed immediately.
Meanwhile, authorities have imposed Section 144 in Hub, banning bathing and swimming in the Hub River for two months. According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Home and Tribal Affairs Department, all recreational activities in the river have been completely prohibited following the tragic incident.
The department stated that the entry of unauthorised persons into dangerous areas of the river will be strictly banned. The notification added that the ban will remain in effect for 60 days, and violators will face action under Section 188.
The home department has directed the deputy commissioner, police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the ban.
It further stated that all necessary measures will be taken to protect human lives.
