On a humid evening in Karachi, a minor road accident in Clifton spiralled into something far more dangerous. What should have ended with a brief argument instead turned into a moment of violence that would send shockwaves through the city.

An officer of the FBR was shot at in the attack.

Officials said that Agha Shaheer, the son of a former police officer, had been involved in a collision with another vehicle. Among those present was Shah Mir Lashari, an FBR inspector known for his calm demeanour.

Witnesses later said the argument was heated but ordinary—until it wasn’t. In a sudden burst of anger, Shaheer pulled out a weapon and opened fire, injuring Lashari before fleeing the scene.

The city’s police force quickly mobilized. The case drew attention not only because of the violence but also because of the accused’s background. District South police began tracking Shaheer’s movements, piecing together fragments of evidence. Days later, his abandoned vehicle was recovered from Shikarpur, a clue that confirmed he had fled far beyond the city.

The investigation widened. Three individuals were detained for allegedly helping him escape. Officers followed leads that took them across Sindh and into Balochistan, where Shaheer was believed to have taken refuge. Despite mounting pressure, he remained out of reach.

Weeks passed, but the chase did not slow. Then, a breakthrough came through a confidential tip. Acting swiftly, police conducted a targeted raid upon Shaheer’s return route. The operation was precise, and this time, there was no escape. Shaheer was arrested without further incident.

Alongside him, his close associate Najibullah was also taken into custody. Investigators revealed that Najibullah had helped conceal the vehicle and assisted in covering up evidence after the shooting.

As CCTV footage surfaced and interrogations continued, the case began to take clearer shape. What started as a trivial dispute had exposed a chain of decisions fuelled by anger, leading to consequences that could not be undone. Further investigations are underway.
