PARACHINAR/ALPURI: Heavy hailstorm accompanied by thunder and torrential rains lashed Parachinar and surrounding areas on Sunday evening, causing damage to standing crops and orchards, local sources said.
The sudden change in weather conditions left farmers in distress as crops and fruit orchards were affected by the intense hail and rainfall.
Following the downpour, flash flooding was reported in seasonal streams and nullahs, while the water level in the River Kurram also rose significantly.
The unexpected weather shift also led to a noticeable drop in temperature, increasing the intensity of cold conditions in the region once again.
In Shangla, the intermittent torrential rains and severe hailstorms over the past four days have disrupted daily life in various parts of Shangla, causing heavy losses to crops and orchards, local sources said.
Widespread downpours accompanied by hail damaged wheat, maize, vegetable crops, and fruit trees, leaving farmers worried about financial losses. Local growers said the intense hailstorm had destroyed months of hard work, putting them under economic strain.
The persistent rainfall has also led to a sharp drop in temperature, with cold conditions returning to upper areas of the district.
