KHAR: Three youngsters were injured when militants struck a cricket ground with a drone in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur district on Friday.

According to security sources, the incident occurred in the Shahi Tangi area of Wara Mamond while children were playing cricket.

The injured youths were immediately shifted to a nearby medical facility, while two of them were later referred to Peshawar due to the severity of their injuries.

Following the attack, security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to track down the perpetrators. Evidence is also being collected from the site as part of the ongoing investigation.

Local tribal elders and residents strongly condemned the incident, calling for decisive action against militant elements to ensure public safety in the region.

Security officials said that militant groups have previously used quad-copter drones to target civilians in an attempt to spread fear and instability. “Targeting innocent civilians reflects desperation, as such elements avoid direct confrontation with security forces,” an official added.
