ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has imposed an initial ban on key office-bearers of the Pakistan Federation Baseball and the Pakistan Netball Federation for failing to provide audited financial records of grants released over the past four years.

According to official correspondence, the PSB has raised serious concerns over non-settlement of approximately Rs42 million disbursed to the baseball federation. Despite repeated reminders, the federation has yet to submit complete adjustment accounts along with original receipts, invoices, vouchers, and bank statements.

As a first step, Syed Ali Shah, Treasurer of the baseball federation, has been banned from all sports-related activities at national and international levels. He is also barred from representing any organization or seeking financial assistance, facilities, or recognition from the PSB or its affiliated bodies. All federations, departments, and associations have been directed to cease any form of cooperation with the banned official.

The PSB has granted the baseball federation a final seven-day deadline to submit complete financial documentation. Failure to comply, the Board warned, could lead to further action, including bans on other office-bearers, suspension of the federation’s affiliation, and additional measures under relevant laws and regulations. The ban may be reviewed if the required records for the period from July 1, 2022, to April 29, 2026, are duly submitted.

In a similar move, the PSB has taken action against the netball federation after it failed to comply with a final notice issued on April 22, 2026, to settle down around Rs63 million grant. The notice had directed submission of complete financial records within seven days, including audited accounts and supporting documents for grants received.

Citing violations of its constitutional provisions, the PSB noted that under Rule 13(8), it is empowered to inspect and call for accounts of any national federation, while Rule 20(11) mandates timely updating and auditing of financial records. The Board maintained that compliance with financial transparency is a mandatory requirement tied to the use of public funds.
