KARACHI: Diwan Fakhruddin, chairperson of the Pak-UAE Business Council at FPCCI, said the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has moved beyond traditional diplomacy, evolving into a sophisticated strategic partnership rooted in a brotherly relationship established in 1972.

Fakhruddin said a cornerstone of this relationship is the Pakistani diaspora. The UAE is the second-largest source of remittances to Pakistan, with approximately Rs7.2 billion in annual inflows. These remittances are more than just financial capital; they are a fundamental pillar of Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability. Pakistanis are the second-largest expatriate community in the UAE.

He added that a recent high-level Pakistani delegation’s visit further underscored this “human bridge”, highlighting the need for continued support and structural improvements in overseas employment frameworks.
