KALAYA: Torrential rain and cloudburst cause destruction in Mishti Bazaar and surrounding settlements in the tribal district of Orakzai, an official said on Tuesday.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Lower Orakzai, Umar Mukhtar, the cloudburst triggered a sudden flash flood in Mishti Bazaar, resulting in dozens of shops, markets, and several houses being swept away by floodwaters. He added that several motorcycles and vehicles were also carried away by the strong flood currents. Authorities visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage.
The assistant commissioner added that, so far, no loss of life has been reported.
He said the administration was closely monitoring the situation and assured that all possible assistance would be provided to the affected people.
