Islamabad:The Islamabad Police have struck a significant blow against organised crime in the federal capital, apprehending 16 high-profile suspects connected to multiple violent crimes including a cold-blooded blind murder and major highway robberies.

In a comprehensive press briefing, DIG Muhammad Jawad Tariq detailed the successes of the Robbery and Dacoity Unit (RDU) over the past ten days.

These operations, conducted under the ‘Crime-Free Islamabad’ initiative spearheaded by Inspector General of Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, led to the recovery of a kidnapped minor and assets valued at Rs5.48 million including motorcycles, cell phones and cash.

The prominent breakthrough involved swift resolution of a quadruple homicide in Jhangi Syedan. On March 25, 2026, four individuals were murdered and an eight-year-old girl was abducted, leaving investigators with no immediate leads.

However, utilising advanced surveillance technology and human intelligence, police successfully traced and apprehended three suspects -- Muhammad Yusuf, Ibrahim, and Reshman Bibi -- within 24 hours.

The abducted child was recovered safely. The crackdown also dismantled ‘Sheroo Gang’ following a high-stakes robbery in Bhara Kahu.

On April 6, armed assailants intercepted employees of an electronics firm as they moved to deposit funds, escaping with over Rs4.2 million.

Following a targeted pursuit, police arrested gang leader Sher Khan along with accomplices Sher Wali and Hasnain Imran, recovering Rs3 million of stolen cash.

Further successes were reported against the ‘Raja Gang’ and ‘Sani Gang’, both of which had been terrorising residents in Khanna, Industrial Area and Karachi Company sectors. Seven members of the Raja Gang were taken into custody, with investigators linking them to multiple snatching incidents across Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

From these groups, 25 high-value mobile phones were seized, illegal weaponry, and the vehicles used in the commission of the crimes.
