Impractical education

The decline of practical education in Pakistan is becoming increasingly concerning. Exams have now mostly been reduced to written papers, which defeats their real purpose. Practical work is meant to build understanding through experience, not memorisation alone. When students only write about experiments instead of performing them, their learning remains incomplete and largely theoretical. This creates a serious gap in skills, especially for those who aim to enter science and medical fields. Although challenges such as limited resources and large class sizes exist, replacing practical exams with paper-based assessments is not a true solution. It only weakens the quality of education further. There is an urgent need to restore proper practical examinations so that students can learn through doing and not just writing.
