ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA’s) National Central Bureau (NCB) and Interpol successfully coordinated the arrest and extradition of four high-profile proclaimed offenders from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The suspects -- identified as Abdullah, Adil, Muhammad Adnan, and Shah Faisal -- were wanted in connection with several grave criminal cases, including murder and financial fraud, and they were apprehended in Abu Dhabi before being extradited to Pakistan.
Following their arrest by Emirati authorities, the suspects were brought under guard to Lahore airport. According to official records, these individuals had been evading justice for some time, prompting the Punjab Police to seek international assistance. The Interpol had previously issued Red Notices for the four suspects, flagging them as international fugitives and triggering a collaborative manhunt.
The cases against the suspects originated from police stations in Faisalabad and Sargodha, where they face various charges under the Pakistan Penal Code. Specifically, the group is accused of involvement in separate incidents of premeditated murder and large-scale fraudulent activities. Upon their arrival at Lahore airport, the FIA Immigration Department conducted its process before officially handing the suspects over to the Punjab Police for further investigation and trial.
An FIA spokesperson emphasised that the successful operation was the result of seamless communication and strategic cooperation between Interpol Islamabad and Interpol Abu Dhabi. “This latest extradition highlights the increasing effectiveness of international legal frameworks in tracking and capturing fugitives who attempt to seek refuge abroad to escape domestic prosecution.” The Punjab Police have confirmed that the suspects are now in their custody as legal proceedings commence.
