The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has launched a major crackdown against elements involved in illegal oil storage and petrol theft in the city, officials said on Saturday.

According to an FIA spokesperson, the Anti-Corruption Circle Karachi conducted a raid at an illegal oil storage facility located in Mehran Town, Korangi Industrial Area, on the basis of Inquiry No. 61/2026. During the operation, authorities recovered a tanker with a capacity of 50,000 litres, carrying 49,838 litres of petrol (RON-92).

The tanker was found to be involved in the theft and illegal transportation of fuel, which was being transferred into temporary drums and supplied to petrol pumps through Suzuki vehicles. Acting on the driver’s identification, the FIA carried out another raid at Mughal Filling Station (Lucky Petroleum). Upon verification, the station’s petroleum license was found to be fake, officials added.

A case has been registered against multiple suspects under sections 409, 406, 420, 468, 471, and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code. The accused have been identified as Tariq, Riaz Khan, Abdul Hameed, Liaquat Ali, Dilnawaz, Umar Hayat, Ahmed Khan, Rafiq, Raza Khan, and Faheem Khan. Further investigation is underway.

The FIA reiterated its commitment to taking indiscriminate action against those involved in causing losses to national resources.
