Speakers at an international conference on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) held at Greenwich University on Saturday called for stronger measures to ensure fair treatment and full participation of all individuals, particularly those from underrepresented groups.

The event brought together key figures from academia, government, and the diplomatic community, including Vice Chancellor Dr. Seema Mughal, Sindh Higher Education Commission Director Academics Dr. Maimoona Shah, Chairman KVTC Senator Abul Haseeb Khan, NAVTTC Chairperson Ms. Ameena Gul Bilal, Mauritius High Commissioner H.E. Munsoo Kurrimbaccus, and Director DEI at Greenwich University Eesha Ali.

Addressing the conference, speakers stressed the need for improved workplace policies and greater access to equal opportunities across Pakistan. They noted that diversity, equity, and inclusion are essential to creating environments where individuals can contribute effectively and achieve their full potential.

Participants also underscored the importance of institutional reforms within the academic sector, warning that symbolic or limited initiatives would not be sufficient to bridge systemic gaps.

Panel discussions examined the practical application of DEI principles, covering topics such as inclusion in local and global contexts, access to opportunities, social participation, and the importance of fostering a sense of belonging. Discussions also highlighted the role of pluralism and intergenerational justice in shaping inclusive societies.

Experts further raised concerns regarding minority rights, gender inclusion, human rights, and interfaith harmony, emphasizing the need for sustained policy attention in these areas.

The conference was attended by a wide range of participants, including diplomats, scholars, academicians, practitioners, and students.

Greenwich University Vice Chancellor Dr. Seema Mughal and Senator Abul Haseeb Khan of KVTC signed an MoU on the sidelines of the conference.

Honorary Consul General of Mauritius Sohail Yasin Suleman announced 10 million rupees for Greenwich University.
