All aggression being committed in the US-Israel war against Iran aims to enforce an Israel-first policy in the Middle East, said Iranian Consul General in Karachi Akbar Eissa Zadeh on Saturday.

Iran will resist such a move by improving its relations with neighbouring countries, and stop such enforcement from reaching its logical end, added Zadeh while speaking on ‘Iran at the Crossroads of War in the Middle East’ and replying to questions at the Pakistan Institute of International Affairs.

He said that apparently, the entire world is going to be divided into blocs in the recent situation, adding that the US and Israel have strategically reached a dead-end by inflicting a war on Iran and they are facing defeat.

He also said that the entire world has also lost because all the international laws have been violated in the aggression against Iran. The US president’s politics revolve around Israel’s self-interest, he added.

Responding to a query about Iran’s uranium enrichment programme, he said Iran has no need of atomic weapons for its defence doctrine, but it wants atomic energy for positive and fruitful purposes in medicine, agriculture and energy sectors, which is its legitimate right.

He also said countries that themselves possess atomic weapons have started aggression against Iran to destroy its peaceful nuclear infrastructure, which is against the international laws. Iran has constantly been cooperating with the International Atomic Energy Agency for decades, he added.

Replying to a question about the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, he said Iran had not closed the waterway even after the start of the war, adding that ships had been allowed to navigate under certain conditions.

He also said that the closure of the strait had been decided as a strategic defence plan to stop the US and its allied naval war ships from passing through it. He, however, clarified that all other ships, which have no mala fide intention, can pass through the waterway.

Zadeh said the US president wants to implement Israel’s plan in the region. Iran does not understand the reason behind this aggression, he added. “Iran hasn’t taken the path of aggression against any country.”

He said aggression against Iran was initiated when diplomatic talks were going on, and the US tried to impose its force on and intimidate Iran.

He also said that a war was imposed on Iran, its supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei was assassinated in violation of all the international laws. The US and Israel targeted Iran’s civilian infrastructure, military infrastructure and scientists, while 168 schoolchildren were martyred, he added.

The Iranian CG said that the attitude of the world towards the martyrdom of children was hypocritical, adding that everyone watched this scene as silent spectators.

He said aggression was aimed at changing the regime, and a slogan was circulated on social media that they would give people freedom, but when the Iranian people stood with the government, the US started attacking urban settlements.

He also said that the brave Iranian nation resisted US aggression by its locally made missiles and drones, maintained the balance of power and made the US realise that it had committed a mistake by waging a war against Iran.

Zadeh said that the entire region has been destabilised due to the aggression against Iran, and the US president has also betrayed the Congress to fulfil his warmongering.

He said that during the 50-day war, Iran resisted bravely to protect its civilisation, and sent a message to the world that dominating Iran through force is a madman’s dream.

He also said that Pakistan and Iran’s relations are historical. He appreciated Pakistan’s role as a mediator in resolving the conflict and maintaining peace in the region.

He said Pakistan and Iran had agreed to increase the trade volume to $10 billion, but a war has been imposed on Iran. Iran will increase coordination in different fields soon after the end of the war, he added.

The CG said that Iran wants the foreign policy in the region to be kept in balance, adding that Iran prioritises relations with Islamic countries.
