MANSEHRA: Police recovered the bodies of two young girls on Saturday who had allegedly been kidnapped earlier this month. The bodies were found in rivers at different locations in Balakot tehsil.

“The bodies of two girls have been fished out by the police personnel in the jurisdiction of Kaghan and Garhi Habibullah police stations,” Sabir Khan, the superintendent of police Balakot, told reporters here on Sunday.

The body of a 17-year-old girl was fished out from Kunhar River by the police personnel and shifted it to the nearby health facility.

The FIR lodged with the Kaghan Police Station revealed that the 17-year-old girl was abducted by Muhammad Waseem from her residence in Kaghan valley, allegedly for marriage.

The body was handed over to the police after doctors completed the medico-legal formalities.

The police, after lodging the FIR, arrested the accused Mohammad Waseem, who was nominated in the FIR by the victim facility.

Meanwhile, the police also fished out the body of a young girl from Boi hydropower dam’s downstream and shifted it to the nearby health facility.

The locals, according to the police, witnessed the body floating in the river water and informed them.

Police handed the body over to her family following completion of the medico-legal formalities.

The family of the girl, whose body was fished out by Garhi Habibullah, had allegedly kidnapped nearby her residence on April 9, and her family had lodged the FIR with the police.

SP, Balakot, Sabir Khan said that police had already completed the medico-legal formalities and started an investigation to ascertain the reasons behind both incidents.
