ISLAMABAD: The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) on Friday voiced serious concern over the country’s economic situation, alleging that soaring inflation and excessive taxation have deprived citizens of a dignified standard of living.

The concerns were raised during a meeting between the opposition alliance’s secretary general, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, and its vice-chairman, former senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, held in Islamabad. The meeting reviewed a range of issues, including the upcoming federal budget and a proposed session of the judicial commission.

According to TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain, participants discussed what they described as the government’s poor economic performance and deliberated on a strategy to challenge it during the budget session.

Asad Qaiser said that rising inflation and taxes had eroded people’s ability to live with dignity, adding that salaried individuals, farmers, labourers, and business owners are all suffering due to flawed government policies. He warned that if meaningful relief was not provided in the upcoming budget, the alliance would launch a full-scale public movement.
