TikToker held in Mansehra over obscene content

MANSEHRA: Police on Wednesday arrested a TikToker for allegedly posting video logs containing obscene and derogatory language.

“We have arrested a TikToker who used derogatory language and hurled threats at his rivals,” Cadet Mohammad Saqib, SHO City Police Station, told reporters on Wednesday.A police party led by Saqib raided a house in the Ghazikot area and arrested Faizan Alam, alias Chota Don.

“Our social media cell, established to monitor all platforms, pointed out that r Alam was involved in hurling threats at his so-called rivals and using obscene language during his live chats and posts,” he said. The SHO added that the arrested accused also shared immoral content on various platforms, including Facebook and TikTok.

“We have arrested dozens of such social media influencers and TikTokers in the recent past after the police social media cell marked posts and vlogs that were against social norms and promoted sectarian hatred,” Saqib said.

He warned social media influencers and TikTokers to follow moral and ethical boundaries and not indulge in obscenity or immorality, else strict legal action would be taken against them.Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Shazadi Noshad Gillani said that her department was providing swift services to applicants for the issuance of driving licences and urged them to strictly follow traffic rules for their own and others’ safety.

She was speaking at an awareness session at the licensing branch in Shinkiari Circle.Gillani said that the police department was expanding its network to other cities and towns to issue driving licences at people’s doorsteps.“Shinkiari is one such branch launched to facilitate applicants in swiftly appearing in driving tests and obtaining their licences,” she said.
