Traders want to be consulted on beautification of bazaars

PESHAWAR: Tanzeem-e-Tajiran Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industries have appreciated the provincial government’s initiatives aimed at restoring the beauty and historical significance of markets in Peshawar.

President of Tanzeem-e-Tajiran Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Malik Mehr Elahi, President of Peshawar Chamber Shakeel Ahmad Khan Sarraf, Senior Vice President Tala Muhammad, Vice President Malik Zohaib Arif, and Spokesperson Shehzad Ahmad Siddiqui praised the efforts made by MNA Asif Khan and Provincial Minister Mina Khan Afridi.

They said that the issuance of tenders for the beautification of markets in constituency NA-32 is a positive development for the business community.

The trader leaders appreciated the practical steps taken for the beautification and renovation of several major commercial centres, including Hashtnagri, Chowk Shadi Pir, Karimpura, Shaheen Bazaar, Meena Bazaar, Koochi (Chowk Nasir Khan) Bazaar, Ghanta Ghar, Reti Bazaar, Chowk Yadgar, Ashraf Road, Ander Shehar Ramdas, Shah Qabool Road, Kohati Gate, Jahangirpura, Peepal Mandi, Mundi Beri, Church Road, Rashid Garhi, and Beri Bagh, among others. They termed this initiative commendable.

The traders expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Provincial Minister for Local Government Meena Khan Afridi for taking an interest in the development of historic markets.

However, they called for consultation with trader representatives and office-bearers of the concerned markets before the commencement of construction work.They noted that the trader community is well aware of the basic issues and ground realities of the markets. Therefore, they stressed that meaningful consultation with stakeholders would ensure the long-term benefits of the project and help maintain the city’s beauty in an organised manner.
