MARDAN: Former mayor Himayatullah Mayar has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the Awami National Party (ANP), saying his association with the Pakhtun national party is deeply rooted in his ancestral legacy.
In a statement released on his Facebook account, he addressed ANP President Aimal Wali Khan, emphasising that the party took precedence over other organisations. He clarified that the Yousafzai Nariwala Jirga was purely a welfare organization with no political ideology and no involvement in parliamentary politics.
Himayatullah Mayar reiterated that he considered ANP to be the sole representative of the Pakhtuns working for their unity and progressive nationalism, adding that there was no alternative to the movement.
He said if the ANP had any objection to his association with the Yousafzai Nariwala Jirga and considered it contrary to the party’s constitution and manifesto, he was ready to sever his ties with the organization and submit himself to the discipline and principles of the party.
Meanwhile, a separate statement circulating on social media claimed that the party had accepted the response submitted by Himayatullah Mayar to the show-cause issued to him. It may be noted that Himayatullah Mayar was currently on a UK visit.
