PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar conducted the first Orientation Session for mentors of the inaugural cycle under the Mentoring Programme for Universities (MPU) initiated by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE) HEC.
The aim of this programme is to promote an effective mentoring system among faculty, students, and administrative officers in universities.
It enhances the capabilities of mentors and supports the professional and personal development of junior faculty, students, and other administrative staff.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Sadiq Khattak emphasized the importance of self-awareness as the foundation of effective mentoring. He said, mentors must first understand themselves before guiding their mentees.
Earlier, Senior Dean Prof Dr Rizwan Mahmood Gul, the Chairperson of the Mentoring Programme Committee, shared updates on MPU implementation at the university. The technical session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor, a certified trainer on mentoring skills.
He discussed key mentoring techniques under the guidelines of HEC and engaged participants in an interactive discussion. Dr Shamaila Farooq briefed the participants on the implementation strategy and way forward for MPU at UET Peshawar.
