BANNU: A police official embraced martyrdom on Tuesday when unidentified assailants opened fire on him at his native village, officials said.
Atta-ur-Rehman, son of Musharaf and a resident of Dheri Syedan Mamashkhel, was on his way home after performing duty when he came under fire from unidentified attackers. He lost life on the spot.
Police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the suspects.
District Police Officer Yasir Afridi, while speaking to the media, condemned the incident and said such cowardly acts could not demoralize the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.He vowed that those involved in the attack would be dealt with strictly.
