MINGORA: At least three persons, including a minor child, were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car in Rahimabad area here, police officials said on Tuesday.

Police said the victims were travelling in a non-custom-paid (NCP) vehicle when assailants sprayed their car with bullets, adding that an old enmity was believed to be the motive behind the killings.

Police officials said the injured were being shifted to the casualty ward of Saidu Sharif Hospital; however, they succumbed to their injuries on the way. Two of the deceased were identified as Tooti Rehman, and Shaukat Ali, son of Fazal Hayat, both residents of Shen Bagh Qambar. A young child was also among the victims.

Preliminary investigations suggest the incident may be linked to a longstanding enmity between the victims and one Mian Gul Jalal, a resident of Saidu Sharif.

Police confirmed that cases had already been registered between the rival parties at Rahimabad and Saidu Sharif police stations.
