KOHAT: The district administration has successfully conducted an operation against illegal placer gold mining along the banks of the Indus River and eliminated the unlawful activities in the district.
Kohat Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Nawaz Wazir while talking to reporters on Monday said that the administration in coordination with police and other relevant departments carried out a successful crackdown against illegal mining activities across the district.
He said that Section 144 was imposed throughout the district to curb unlawful activities and maintain law and order.The official added that strict vigilance was being maintained particularly against those attempting to carry out mining under the cover of darkness and legal action was being taken against them.
