Probe ordered into alleged tree cutting at Jauhar college

The Directorate of College Education Karachi Region has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate reports of alleged tree cutting at the Government Degree Boys College, Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

According to an office order issued on April 20, 2026, reports circulating on social media claimed that trees had been cut within the premises of the college. In order to ascertain the factual position, Regional Director Colleges Karachi Gulab Rai ordered the formation of an inquiry committee.

As per the notification, Prof Nasir Iqbal, Principal of Adamjee Government Science College Karachi, has been appointed as convener of the committee. Other members include Prof Dr Abdul Khaliq Rajpar, Principal of Government Degree Boys College Sachal Goth, Karachi, and Hussain Farooq Khan, Assistant Director, Directorate of Colleges Karachi.

The committee has been tasked with visiting the site and conducting an inspection, verifying the authenticity of reports regarding tree cutting, determining the number, condition and status of affected trees, identifying any responsible individuals, recording statements of concerned staff, and assessing the overall situation. The committee has been directed to submit its report within three days positively.
