Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail on Monday said Pakistan must raise its annual IT exports to $100 billion, stressing that job creation is an urgent national priority, while unemployment and law & order remain major challenges in Balochistan.

Mandokhail made these remarks while speaking to the media during his visit to the head office of the Saylani Welfare International Trust and the Saylani Trust’s IT Park in Karachi. The governor met students enrolled at the Saylani IT Institute. Officials briefed him on IT education, training programmes and quality standards being offered at the centre. The students also informed him about various courses, modern technology programmes, and employment opportunities available through the initiative.

He expressed great satisfaction over the visit, saying that it is encouraging to see a large number of students from underprivileged and middle-class backgrounds benefiting from the Saylani IT Park.

He said that although many young people obtain an education, they often struggle to find employment, adding that the IT sector offers vast, limitless opportunities worldwide. “We aim to increase annual IT exports from $4 billion to $100 billion.”

Mandokhail said Balochistan faces a serious employment challenge, and the law & order situation requires improvement and better management. He also said the situation in Afghanistan remains a long and complex issue, adding that Taliban presence has significantly reduced and is no longer a major threat.

He also noted that the Makran belt, including areas such as Panjgur and Turbat, holds strong potential for business development. He highlighted that Balochistan produces some of the best cotton in Pakistan and has the country’s largest livestock sector.

Appreciating the Saylani Welfare Trust’s efforts, he said the organisation’s welfare and training programmes are highly commendable, and stressed the need to expand such initiatives to benefit more youth in Balochistan as well.
