The School Education and Literacy Department, government of Sindh, has completed the construction of 162 modern schools under the Sindh Education Sector Transformation (SELECT) project, marking a major milestone in efforts to improve access to quality education across the province.

According to officials, the newly built schools are located in five districts and are designed to provide students with a safe, modern, and conducive learning environment. The initiative aims to address long-standing gaps in educational infrastructure, particularly in underserved and rural areas.

The Mirpurkhas district received the highest number of new institutions, with 42 schools constructed in areas such as Digri, Jhuddo, Shujaabad, Hussain Bux Mari, and Sindhri. In Thatta district, 38 schools have been completed, covering Gharo Bari, Keti Bandar, Thatta, and Mirpur Sakro.

Moreover, Badin district has seen the establishment of 30 schools, including a significant number in Tando Bago, along with others in Talhar, Matli, Golarchi, and Badin taluka. Similarly, 31 schools have been built in Sanghar district, benefiting areas such as Tando Adam, Sinjhoro, Sanghar, Jam Nawaz Ali, and Khipro.

In Tando Muhammad Khan district, 21 new schools have been constructed in locations including Bulri Shah Karim, Tando Ghulam Hyder, and the district headquarters.

Officials say the schools are equipped with modern facilities, improved classrooms, and better sanitation systems, all of which are expected to enhance both teaching quality and student performance.

The project is being viewed as a significant step toward strengthening the education sector in Sindh, offering thousands of children improved opportunities for learning and contributing to a more promising future for the province.
