KARACHI: Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has established another wheelchair tennis venue at Agriculture University Faisalabad on Monday. According to details, PTF has successfully converted an existing basketball court at the university into a multipurpose facility for both tennis and basketball.
The Federation provided essential equipment including poles, nets, and court markings while two specially designed wheelchair tennis chairs and four tennis rackets were also supplied. Before the establishment of the facility, the federation held a wheelchair tennis development initiative coaching camp and talent hunt event on the venue in which 14 players from the Faisalabad region participated.
M Khalid Rehmani, Vice President PTF and member of the Wheelchair Tennis Committee of the Asian Tennis Federation, and Salman Karim Mughal, Wheelchair Tennis Coordinator PTF, attended the inauguration ceremony and supervised the talent hunt activities.
Following the trials, local tennis coach Zeeshan Ashraf shortlisted four Wheelchair Tennis players who would undergo structured coaching sessions once a week to develop fundamental skills of the game. These sessions will be supervised by M Mohid Tariq, a dedicated wheelchair athlete. Earlier, the federation held wheelchair tennis talent hunt and coaching camp at K-21 Club in Lahore.
