QUETTA: Thirteen people, including two police officials, were killed in multiple incidents across Balochistan on Sunday. The incidents included a landmine blast, a coal mine accident, a militant attack, a road crash, an ‘honour killing’, drowning, accidental firing, and targeted shootings, officials said.
In Dera Bugti, a man was killed in a landmine explosion in the Lenjo area of Sui tehsil. Reports said the blast occurred on Sunday morning when a motorcycle struck a landmine planted in the ground. The rider, identified as Muhib Ali, son of Jaffer Chakarani Bugti, died on the spot. The motorcycle was completely destroyed. After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to the family.
In Dukki, a coal mine worker died after receiving an electric shock. According to officials, the worker touched an electricity line passing over the mine. The deceased was identified as Mansoor, son of Shah Wali, belonging to the Hotak tribe and a resident of Afghanistan. His body was shifted to Civil Hospital Dukki and later handed over to relatives.
In Khuzdar, two police personnel, including a female constable, were shot dead and another was injured in an attack in the Baghbana area. Police said the incident occurred when a police team was heading to conduct a raid in connection with a theft case in Killi Bajoi. At Killi Khandozai, militants opened fire, killing female constable Malik Naz and constable Samiullah, while constable Sheikh Ibrahim sustained injuries. The bodies and the injured officer were shifted to hospital. Further investigation is underway.
In Bolan, three people, including a nine-year-old child, were killed in a traffic accident on the Dhadar Eastern Bypass. Police said the accident occurred around 11am when a Mazda vehicle coming from Quetta collided with a pickup while turning. Two motorcycle riders were also hit. The deceased were identified as Muhammad Usman (9), son of Himmat Khan, Qadir Bakhsh, son of Deen Muhammad, and Abdul Majeed, son of Abdul Hameed. Two injured persons were shifted to Quetta for further treatment.
In Naseerabad, two people, including a woman, were killed in separate firing incidents. Police said in Goth Syed Akhtar Shah, within the limits of Mangoli police station, a man identified as Mahboob Ali Magsi allegedly shot dead his 23-year-old wife Mukhtiar Bibi over “honour” allegations and fled.
In another incident near Dera Murad Jamali police station in the Uch Power Area, a man named Ahmed, son of Ghulam Muhammad, was shot dead over a dispute related to marriage proposals in Goth Jan Muhammad Jamali. Police arrested one suspect, while investigations are ongoing.
A four-year-old girl drowned in a canal in the Tamboo area. Police said the incident took place in the Ropa branch canal near Mengal Dep, within the jurisdiction of Manjho Shori police station. The body was recovered and handed over to the family. In Quetta, a young man was killed after being hit by an accidental gunshot in Jinnah Town. Police said the victim, identified as Faraz Hussain, was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his injuries. He lived in Jinnah Town with his mother. Further investigation is underway.
In Pishin, two people were killed when armed men opened fire on a vehicle on Pishin–Yaro Road. Police said the vehicle was travelling from Pishin to Yaro when attackers fired at it, killing Barat Khan and Azizullah. The bodies were shifted to hospital for postmortem, while investigations are in progress.
