Probe ordered into ‘illegal construction’ on Jamia Millia College ground

The Directorate of College Education Karachi Region has constituted a fact-finding committee to investigate alleged illegal construction on the playground of the Jamia Millia Government Degree College, Malir.

According to an official order, the action was taken on a complaint lodged by the college principal who alleged that land grabbers had initiated unlawful construction activities on the college premises.

In response, a four-member committee was formed to examine the matter. The committee comprises Additional Director (Inspection) Prof Kamran Akram Shaikh, Principal of Government College of Commerce & Economics Prof Mansoor Ali Shahani, Deputy Director (Finance/Legal) Prof Fakhra Mubarak and Assistant Director (Inspection) Arif Najmi.

The terms of reference require the committee to conduct a site inspection, verify the allegations of illegal construction, examine relevant documents, court orders and available evidence, and record statements of the stakeholders concerned, if necessary. The notification directs the committee to submit its report within three days.
