The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of the Sindh Police, in collaboration with an intelligence agency, on Friday claimed to have arrested three alleged militants affiliated with Fitnatul Hindustan during ongoing intelligence-based operations in Karachi.

CTD DIG Ghulam Azfar Mahesar and SSP Irfan Bahadur told media that the suspects were trained militants and apprehended as part of a crackdown against the banned outfit. The suspects were identified as Miandad Baloch, son of Imam Buksh; Imran, son of Ali and Rehman alias King, son of Khuda Buksh. Police also recovered three pistols along with ammunition from their possession.

According to officials, the suspects were facilitating terrorists arriving from Balochistan by providing them shelter at their homes. They were also assisting in reconnaissance of potential targets and offering their motorcycles for movement and logistical support. Investigators revealed that suspect Rehman is a close associate of Zafar, one of the attackers killed in the Jaffar Express train attack. The suspects were also found actively promoting propaganda of Fitnatul Hindustan and Indian social media channels through platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.

Officials said the militants had transported weapons and ammunition from Balochistan to Karachi on the directives of their mastermind for carrying out subversive activities. Cases have been registered against the suspects under the Arms Act at the CTD police station. Interrogation is underway, and further disclosures are expected.

Meanwhile, joint teams of the CTD and intelligence agencies have been formed to arrest other members of the network and facilitators. Raids are being conducted at various locations to apprehend their accomplices and target killers, officials added.
