LAHORE: Marking what officials described as a transition from traditionally strong military cooperation to deeper institutional engagement, a Confucius Corner part of a Chinese Information Resource Centre was inaugurated at the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) campus of the Civil Services Academy (CSA), signalling a new phase in relations between the Chinese government and Pakistan’s civil establishment.

Addressing the ceremony, Chinese Consul General in Lahore Sun Yan said the Confucius Corner would serve as a “symbol of friendship rooted in the PAS campus” and a bridge for deeper understanding between China and Pakistan. He said the facility would provide future Pakistani leaders access to Chinese language and culture, supporting learning at a time when China was advancing rapidly, with sustained growth and a major contribution to the global economy.

Highlighting progress in technology, green energy and poverty reduction, he said China had entered its 15th Five-Year Plan and would continue promoting peace and development. Describing Pakistan and China as “all-weather strategic cooperative partners,” he noted 75 years of strong ties. He termed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), with over $25bn in investments, a “shining example” of cooperation, adding that its next phase would focus on industry, agriculture and inclusive development.
