A late-night police encounter in Karachi’s Manghopir area turned tragic, as officers confronted suspected criminal elements in a tense exchange of fire. During the operation, Police Constable Muhammad Tufail sustained injuries, while his fellow officer, Constable Khadim Ali Shah, embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
According to officials, the police team had moved into action following intelligence regarding the presence of armed suspects in the area. As the officers attempted to intercept them, the suspects opened fire, leading to a fierce gun battle. Amid the chaos, Constable Khadim Ali Shah displayed exceptional courage, standing his ground against the attackers. He was fatally wounded during the encounter, sacrificing his life while protecting the citizens of Karachi.
Constable Muhammad Tufail, who was also injured in the exchange, was immediately shifted to Aga Khan Hospital for medical treatment. Karachi’s Additional Inspector General Karachi Azad Khan visited the hospital soon after the incident to check on the injured officer. He met with Constable Tufail, inquired about his condition, and directed hospital staff to ensure he received the best possible care.
During his visit, the police chief paid heartfelt tribute to the fallen officer, praising Constable Khadim Ali Shah’s bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty. He emphasized that the sacrifices of martyrs will never be forgotten and vowed that full support would be extended to the bereaved family.
Reaffirming the department’s resolve, the additional IG stated that operations against criminal elements across the city would be intensified. He stressed that maintaining law and order remains the top priority, and the Karachi Police would continue its mission to ensure the safety and security of its citizens, no matter the cost.
