LAHORE:In compliance with the special directions of CM Maryam Nawaz, Local Government Secretary Mian Shakeel visited the head office of the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC), and chaired a meeting regarding the ‘Model Village Programme.’
The meeting conducted a comprehensive and detailed review of the programme’s progress. On the occasion, PRMSC Khurram Parvez briefed the participants on ongoing development projects, highlighting the progress achieved so far and outlining the future course of action. The secretary emphasised the need to further accelerate and strengthen the implementation of rural development initiatives in accordance with the chief minister’s vision. Issuing clear directions, MianShakeel Ahmed stressed that efforts must be intensified to ensure the Model Village Programme achieves its objectives in true spirit and is completed within the stipulated timeline. He directed immediate action to address longstanding drainage issues in rural areas and to ensure priority-based cleaning of stagnant wastewater ponds.
Furthermore, he declared it mandatory to implement protective fencing and all necessary safety measures at project sites, instructing the authorities concerned to ensure that there is no compromise on the safety of life and property of the public. The secretary stated that upon completion, this significant project will not only improve rural infrastructure but will also lead to a noticeable enhancement in the quality of life, ensuring the provision of urban-standard basic facilities to rural communities.
