PESHAWAR: The City Traffic Police have intensified crackdown on traffic violations, issuing tickets to 3,289 motorists for using unregistered vehicles, flashlights, tinted windows and fancy number plates.
According to Chief Traffic Officer Zahidullah Khan, a special campaign is underway across various sectors of the city.During the campaign, 1,590 motorists were fined for using tinted windows, 202 for installing flashlights, 1,201 for driving unregistered vehicles, and 296 for displaying fancy number plates.
Police also removed flashlights, tinted windows and fancy number plates from vehicles on the spot, in addition to imposing fines on violators.The CTO said traffic personnel are utilising all available resources to ensure strict implementation of traffic laws.
He reiterated that there is a complete ban on tinted windows, unregistered vehicles and fancy number plates, warning that no leniency will be shown as the law applies equally to all.Zahidullah urged citizens to cooperate with traffic officials and act responsibly by adhering to traffic rules.
He said several measures have been taken to improve traffic flow across Peshawar, adding that increased use of technology and enhanced vigilance of wardens during peak
hours are part of the strategy.
The CTO added that action has also been taken against encroachments on busy roads, while steps are underway to curb rash driving, use of mobile phones while driving, and failure to wear helmets and seat belts.
He said the safety of drivers and pedestrians remains the top priority, and all officers have been directed to ensure road safety.The CTO said measures are being taken to prevent accidents at U-turns and other accident-prone points.
