Rawalpindi: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) Rawalpindi destroyed 1,500 kg of smelly, substandard and unhealthy meat in an operation.
According to the spokesperson of the authority, a vehicle loaded with meat was stopped and checked during a blockade near Chakra. After an inspection, the veterinary doctor declared about 1,500 kg of stale, smelly and substandard meat in the vehicle as dangerous to human health.
Later, the said meat was destroyed on the spot so that it could not reach the citizens in any way. According to details the meat was to be supplied secretly to the city, however, a danger was averted due to timely action. The police reached the spot and took the vehicle into their custody, while a case has been registered on the complaint of the Food Authority and two people have been taken into custody. According to the authorities, action has been intensified against elements involved in the trade of substandard and unhealthy food across the province.
