Islamabad: Education secretary Nadeem Mehbub Tuesday stressed the need to sustain momentum to achieve the ambitious target of identifying and enrolling 25,000 out-of-school children (OOSC) across the Islamabad Capital Territory within the stipulated timeframe.
“The ministry is committed to a structured, data-driven and community-centered Carpet Coverage Plan, which includes door-to-door surveys, engagement with local stakeholders and real-time monitoring through digital tools,” the secretary told a meeting on the ministry’s ‘No Child Left Behind’ enrolment campaign.
The meeting, attended by representatives of participating civil society organisations and partner NGOs, reviewed progress on the enrolment campaign, aimed at ensuring universal access to education across ICT through a union council-wise strategy. Chaired by the education secretary, the meeting was attended by representatives of participating civil society organisations and partner NGOs.
During the session, participants shared updates on field activities, including household surveys, enrolment drives and community mobilisation efforts. Key challenges and operational bottlenecks were also discussed, with a focus on improving coordination, accelerating outreach and strengthening data reporting mechanisms.
In a significant development, two new letters of understanding were signed with Muslim Hands and ACT International, expanding the network of partner organisations supporting the campaign. Their inclusion is expected to enhance field capacity and contribute to achieving enrolment targets more effectively.
Reiterating the ministry’s commitment, the secretary highlighted that the initiative is being implemented through a comprehensive “Carpet Coverage Plan”, which includes door-to-door surveys, engagement with local stakeholders and real-time monitoring through digital tools. All participating NGOs reaffirmed their commitment to the initiative and pledged to intensify efforts in the coming weeks, emphasising the importance of collective responsibility and close coordination to ensure no child is left behind.
