LAHORE: At just 21, Azan Awais is steadily carving out a reputation as one of Pakistan’s most promising red-ball batters. Currently sharpening his skills at the ongoing NCA Red-Ball Camp in Lahore, Azan’s consistent domestic performances have made him a strong contender for higher honours.

Azan’s rise has been built on back-to-back prolific seasons. In his maiden Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25, he topped the batting charts with 844 runs in eight matches, including four centuries. Azan also gained valuable experience during Pakistan Shaheens’ tour of England, where he battled challenging conditions with the Dukes balls. His highest score of 98 highlighted his adaptability and resilience against quality opposition.

Speaking to PCB Digital, Azan described the camp as a “great learning experience,” praising the focus on fitness and technical refinement. He highlighted the one-on-one guidance from coaches, which helped him identify areas for improvement both mentally and technically.

Azan remains clear about his ambitions: “My aim is to represent Pakistan in all three formats, with a special focus on Test cricket. I want to continue this form in red-ball cricket and make my way into the national side as soon as possible.”
