KARACHI: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has said he would once again request Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow fans to attend matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11.
Naqvi visited the National Bank Cricket Stadium on Monday night to review security arrangements. Speaking to the media, he said the PCB would make every effort to bring spectators back to stadiums.
He added that the decision must take into account the ongoing global situation, particularly the Middle East conflict. Franchise owners, players and fans have also urged the government and PCB to allow crowds, saying spectator presence is essential to the league’s atmosphere and identity.
They appealed to the prime minister and provincial leaderships to permit fans at venues so the true excitement and competitive spirit of the tournament can be experienced. Naqvi praised law enforcement agencies for ensuring the smooth conduct of the PSL despite challenges. He confirmed there would be no changes to the tournament schedule, adding that plans are being considered to rebuild the National Bank Cricket Stadium to further improve facilities.
