Timely action by Madadgar-15 and District Central Police saved the life of an elderly woman who was swept away by fast water flow in a drain, officials said on Monday.

According to District Central SSP Dr Imran Khan, police initially received information that a body was floating in the drain. However, subsequent reports confirmed that it was a woman being carried away by the flow of water.

A Madadgar-15 team from the Supermarket police station immediately reached the area near Teen Hatti, Baloch Para, where the woman had drifted under the Lyari Expressway. Police personnel swiftly pulled her out of the water and shifted her to the police station. Fortunately, she remained unharmed.

The woman was identified as 55-year-old Zakia, a resident of Hijrat Colony. SSP Dr Imran Khan said she had reportedly jumped into the drain following a domestic dispute with her husband. Officials confirmed that the woman was safe, while further legal formalities were under way.
