PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court on Monday issued notices to the federal and provincial governments in eight missing person cases and referred three cases to the Commission on Missing Persons.

The hearing was conducted by a single-member bench of Chief Justice SM Attique Shah. The lawyers for the petitioners, the additional advocate general, the additional attorney general, the police focal person, and other relevant officials appeared before the court.

The petitioners’ counsel informed the court that they had approached it for the recovery of the missing persons after exhausting all other options, but the whereabouts of the individuals remained unknown. They urged that if any charges existed against the missing persons, they should be produced before a court of law for due legal process.
