Police report 193 encounters

PESHAWAR: As many as 193 police encounters took place in the provincial capital in the last over seven months, resulting in the killing of 47 criminals and arrest of 251 others.

As per the official record of the Peshawar Police, 554 encounters have taken place with criminals in the provincial capital since October 2023.

During these encounters, 75 criminals were killed after they allegedly opened fire on the cops. Also, 558 accused were shot and wounded while 769 were arrested during these encounters.

Since September last year, a cop said, 193 police encounters have taken place in different parts of Peshawar in which 47 accused were gunned down while 183 were wounded and 251 were arrested.

The police registered 6581 cases in the last seven months and over 6605 were arrested. As per the police record 751 kilograms of ice, 81 KGs heroin, 1637 KGs charas and 2185 bottles of liquor were recovered during these actions.
