Rawalpindi: Majority of areas here in Rawalpindi and Islamabad have observed a complete shutter down (lockdown) in the light of the ongoing US-Iran dialogue taking place in the federal capital Islamabad here Saturday.

The federal capital Islamabad was under a strict security lockdown with the Red Zone sealed and military personnel deployed to protect high-stakes US-Iran peace talks.

Over 16000 security personnel were controlling access, allowing only authorized personnel into the area, while schools, government offices and courts were closed to ensure safety and manage traffic during the negotiations.

Over 60 per cent localities here in Rawalpindi especially the areas of Faizabad, Satellite Town, Murree Road, Rehmanabad, Dhok Kala Khan, Kurri Road, Lal Kurti, Bakra Mandi, Airport Road, Rawal Road and several other areas observed a complete shutter down (lockdown). Even petrol pumps were also closed in these areas. Public transport in between Rawalpindi and Islamabad were also thin on roads.
