LAHORE: Multan Sultans’ owner Gohar Shah claims that they have made positive improvement in the team’s ranks and in the next encounter against Lahore Qalandars, the team’s revolution will be visibly clear.
Shah in an informal message to The News offered a candid reflection on his team’s journey in PSL 11, describing Multan as the “hero” of their story and rivals Lahore Qalandars as the “villain.” His remarks shed light on the franchise’s transformation under head coach Tim Paine and the evolving dynamics of the league’s fiercest rivalry.
Shah credited Paine for bringing Steve Smith into the PSL, forming a formidable opening partnership with Sahibzada Farhan. He emphasized that the coaching staff has managed a largely new squad and a foreign captain with tactical clarity, noting that the team is currently operating at only “50–60% of its total strength.”
Defending Shan Masood, Shah dismissed criticism of his white-ball credentials, insisting that Masood has proven his worth and deserved his appointment as vice-captain.
He further highlighted the importance of maintaining a calm dressing room environment, even after defeats, as part of a long-term management style focused on stability and the betterment of Pakistan cricket.
