TIMERGARA/SWABI: Leaders of various political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday hailed Pakistan’s efforts to bring the United States and Iran to the negotiation table, calling it a positive step towards regional peace and stability.

In Lower, the local chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) observed a “Day of Thanksgiving” to express happiness over recent diplomatic success and a temporary ceasefire between Iran and the United States (US).

In this connection, a ceremony was organised at a hotel in Timergara, which was attended by a large number of party leaders and workers.

Addressing the gathering, PMLN Lower Dir president Malik Farooq Iqbal congratulated the people of Pakistan and said the country was moving toward progress due to the PMLN’s effective policies.

“It is a matter of great pride that negotiations between the US and Iran are underway and that Pakistan’s diplomatic role is being recognized internationally,” Farooq Iqbal said.

He added that the value and respect of Pakistan’s green passport had improved.

Malik Farooq Iqbal criticized the provincial government, saying that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was being ruled by a leadership that had pushed the province into serious challenges.

PMLN provincial vice president Muhammad Ayub Khan and central president of PMLN Youth Wing Malik Nauman and others also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile, addressing a gathering in Swabi, former MPA Jehan Babadar Shewa said that Pakistan has always preferred dialogue over war and has always believed in peace in very difficult circumstances. “Islamabad parleys is a golden opportunity for the US and Iran leaders to establish a durable peace in Middle East.

The entire world appreciated the role of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir,” he added.

He said there was a dire need for the warring parties to show flexibility and accommodation.

“We hope that US and Iran leaders would utilize their political sagacity. The interlocutors would push the world towards peace instead of war because peace is the name of prosperity, progress and prosperity,” he maintained.
